This page avoids major plot turns, twists, and ending details. It’s designed to help first-time viewers decide if this movie is right for them. What counts as a spoiler can vary by viewer.
Günter Rössler (1926–2012) was one of the most important photographers in East Germany. His nudes in "Magazine" made him famous. In “Sibylle," he photographed the style and taste of the time and put not only beautiful, but also self-confident women in the scene— his contribution to the emancipation of women from a perspective that seems unusual today. In “Closed System GDR," Rössler was no international star as he would have deserved. Today, however, his photographs are represented in numerous art collections and museums. This film introduces Günter Rössler, as his photographs portray their time: simple, concise, and stylish.
