Ophelia Brooks and Patrick Humbert are in their early twenties and they've been dating since junior year of college. Ophelia is from the east coast but she came out to the west coast for school and decided to stay after graduation to be with Patrick. Patrick's family lives in an exclusive and affluent small town called Palm Ridge, where the family is very popular for being so well connected and wealthy. Gossip doesn't have far to travel in such close proximity so people know everything about everyone else's business. When something major goes down between Ophelia and Patrick, it doesn't take long for the news to ring from every corner of Palm Ridge.
